Emperor 1 – Acer Palmatum Dissectum
‘Emperor 1’ also known as ‘Red Emperor’ is a vigorous growing hardy red Japanese maple with a graceful form with black-red bark. In later spring it’s veiled in dark red or deep maroon foliage with a brilliant translucent sheen that gives the leaves a nice shiny look as the sunlight hits them. The tree holds its rich, dark red foliage well throughout the summer months, and has a brilliant scarlet fall display. The underside of the leaf is a rich olive green. Since its leaves bud out later the tree manages cold conditions extremely well and is also very heat tolerant in the late summer. Ideal as a colorful specimen in smaller landscapes.
