Mikawa yatsubusa – Acer Palmatum
One of the best dwarf maples, it is hardy and slow growing with closely arranged overlapping leaves (like shingles on a roof) that create a wonderful stubby dense upright tree. Leaves are a light yellow-green color after first emerging with a red sheath to the petiole, becoming a medium green as they mature. Fall color can range from bright yellow to spectacular red. Great option for container plants and small areas in the garden.
