Tamukeyama – Acer Palmatum
Considered by many to be one of the absolute best Japanese Maples, the stunning Tamukeyama red dissected Lace Leaf is a compact and hardy variety that grows in a mound or dome, is extremely low maintenance and noted for maintaining excellent and brilliant color throughout the summer, thriving in our hot Georgia sun. The weeping shape, cascading branches, and lacy, petite leaves of this lovely maple are a sight to behold. In spring the new growth is dark deep crimson red but soon emerges a dark purple red. As summer unfolds the reds dominate leading to fall color which is is a mix of fiery scarlet reds with a hint of orange undertone. The bark of the twigs and young branches is a deep maroon – red, overcast with a whitish tone. This ancient variety maple is a perfect compact accent or focal tree for a multitude of landscape spaces and is great for containers.
