Fireglow – Acer Palmatum
Aptly named for its red foliage Fireglow is one of the most desired maples. Vigorous and quite sun-tolerant it has a slow growing, upright bushy habit. ‘Fireglow’ leaf’s out as a bright red, before maturing to a deep maroon for the summer and avoiding the dark purples and dingy greens of many other ‘red-leaf’ maples. It will get an orange-red glow to the back side of the leaf when grown in the sun, giving the tree a brighter appearance, and making it glow, when looking up from below. It turns from a luminescent purple-scarlet to fiery crimson red in the fall.
Being a smaller mid-sized tree, it provides color in the landscape while easily keeping a smaller stature than other comparable red upright Japanese maples trees. Outstanding garden or container accent specimen.
