Pixie – Acer Palmatum
Acer palmatum Pixie is like a miniature version of the Japanese maple Bloodgood. This dwarf palmatum leaf tree is known for having one of the deepest wine-red colors. Bright red in spring Pixie gradually changes to deep red throughout the summer and bright fiery scarlet in the fall. It is also known for having unique dark red-to-black bark coloration that adds to its overall brilliance. The growth pattern is upright with lateral branching and around 6 feet tall in height. With its miniature stature, ‘Pixie’ makes an excellent tree for container growing or a perfect match for any limited garden areas ready to pack a big punch with color.
