Omato – Acer Palmatum
Described by connoisseurs and enthusiasts as perhaps one of the most beautiful of the Japanese Maples, Omato is a bright chartreuse green maple prized for its graceful round habit and fabulous fall color. This strong-growing maple has distinct, large leaves with 5 to 7 sharply pointed, double-toothed lobes. Omato is a sight in spring when the leaves emerge tinted and highlighted orange-red before turning a rich green with red petioles. Fall colors are brilliant again with vibrant bright reds and yellows. Tolerant of sunny as well as shady growing environments, it needs consistent moisture throughout the growing season in well drained soils. A lovely addition to the landscape as a specimen plant, shade tree and understory.
